Weekly DigiKnow: The Social Jobs Partnership

Insights from the digital space

10/21/2011

The majority of companies now use social media in some way as a part of their recruitment activities. Whether that involves LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, or even leveraging the power of employee networks through a structured Employee Referral Program, there is no doubt of this medium’s ability to enhance HR and branding efforts.

Yesterday, a joint commitment was announced by Facebook, the U.S. Department of Labor, the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), DirectEmployers Association, and the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA) to create the Social Jobs Partnership. The goal is to help job seekers effectively utilize their social networks to find employment.

While the initiative is in its infancy, there are indicators that Facebook is mulling a job posting solution; a move that would put them in direct competition with LinkedIn. We will, of course, keep you informed of developments.
